Miss T still doesn’t sleep through the night, but I have stopped mentioning it in detail here because I am quite sure everyone was sick of hearing about it.  I know I was sick of writing about it, and thinking about it, and dwelling on it.  My new mantra is “She will go to college someday and her sleep patterns will no longer directly affect me.”  (Not catchy, but you get the picture.)  ANYWAY, my point here is that I fully expect to be awakened between 1:45 and 3:30 every morning.  I have gotten used to it, relatively speaking.

Last night was no exception.  I received my wakeup call around 3:00, but this time my daughter was not to blame.  I woke up because someone was tugging on and rubbing my arm (rather forcefully, I might add).  I opened my eyes to see my husband, propped on one elbow, his face about 6 inches from mine.  Hi honey, hi honey, hi honey, he said.  I asked him if he needed something.  The reply?  Hi honey, hi honey, hi honey.  Then he laid down and went back to sleep, still holding onto my arm.  (Did he recall this incident upon awakening this morning?  Of course not.)  So apparently now it isn’t good enough just to sleep straight through nighttime incidents, he is going to jump on the bandwagon and contribute.  Dog?  Cat?  Neither of you have disturbed my sleep patterns lately.  You’re up.

Upon pickup yesterday, I was informed by Miss T’s teacher that she had escaped from the classroom and was halfway down the hall before the aide caught up with her.  She then proceeded to throw a hissy fit at being returned to the confines of the baby gate.  While the teacher was relaying this story, Miss T was trying to climb my leg while chattering angrily.  I picked her up and she immediately shot the evil eye in the teacher’s direction.  Man.  Eight months old and she’s already giving The Look.  Her teenage years should be a joy.

I’ve got it in my mind now that I need to take a huge vacation to celebrate my 30th birthday (in March).  I have been researching options in Europe, trying to find something we can afford.  While I’m doing all this research, I guess I ought to also check and see if anyone would be willing to keep our children for a week or so while N and I traverse the globe.  Although, I would love to take AE on a vacation like that, because he loves history and geography and world travel would be right up his alley except for the fact that he claims he doesn’t like to fly.  I’m really going to try and make it work, but we’ll see what ends up happening.  For now I am content to amuse myself with daydreaming up exotic adventures in exciting locales.

Apparently my unconscious mind believed you were in some sort of danger and needed to be woken up. I won’t apologize for defending you.

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA! Half-asleep conversations from spouses are the BEST. Except for the fact that they can go back to sleep right away and we can’t.

Clint used to wake me up to help him work whatever job he was on at work…pulling wires, handing him tools. When I ask him if he’s awake he says lovely things like “I’m wide the eff awake” complete with holding his eye open with his fingers, then promptly falling his sleepy head back on his pillow, and I am left to struggle to get back to sleep for the next 45 minutes. Now he wakes me with his snoring and I escape to the guest room…yet another reason we can’t have another kid – where would I go?

    Hehehe, escapee babies!

If you come to Europe we could meet up for a schnitzel or something :)
