Did you know that a child can have severe double ear infections, with no symptoms other than random puking?  I did not know this, yet it appears to be the case.  I kid you not, no more than 10 minutes after I hit “publish” on that last post, Miss T’s daycare called to say that she had puked yet again.  No warning, no fussiness, just BLEAH, everywhere.  So I picked her up, and decided to take her to the doctor for the sole purpose of finding out there was nothing wrong.  I wanted him to tell me that she was fine, so that I could take her back to daycare before the end of the 24-hour mandatory waiting period.  Then lo and behold, he looks in her ears.  Mmmm hmm, mmm hmm, he says, nodding as he takes a look.  Yep, that’s pretty bad in both ears.  And in one fell swoop I felt like the Worst Mom Ever.  Sorry, kiddo, you should be fussier next time. That would be a clue for your dumb old mom.

Aw, try not to be so hard on yourself! We all do the best that we can and NO ONE would know that baby has a DOUBLE (!) ear infection from puking alone!

You are not the worst mom ever! Ear infections can be sneaky. Don’t sweat it. Hope she’s feeling better. :)

Poor thing. I guess she doesn’t feel THAT bad or you would have known. You have mommy instincts. Your child must just have super-human puking skills.
