Pointless stubbornness is exactly that.
After weeks of trying to ignore my sinuses in an effort to avoid going to the doctor, finally I had to throw in the towel. Last night my coughing situation was so bad that any attempts at sleep had to be made while I was sitting in a bolt upright position. Every time I came anywhere near horizontal it would set off The Cough, and I COULD. NOT. STOP. I would cough until I gagged, then I would pop a cough drop in desperation, then I would almost die from choking on it. Lather, rinse, repeat. It was MISERABLE. And at 3:00 a.m., I decided that I had had quite enough and would hit the urgent care place as soon as it opened.
So I did. I’m now armed with a heavy-duty antibiotic that should knock out this raging sinus infection, along with prescription-strength cough medicine to help me get some sleep. It contains hydrocodone, people. And I am a major lightweight when it comes to drugs that “may cause drowsiness”. I suppose if nothing else, I will be blissfully unconscious through tonight’s coughing fit.
Aside to my husband: Good luck with the kids. I’ve been told this cough medicine is effective for 12 hours.

Oh, I love prescriptions! Best sleep I ever got was on muscle relaxers. Awesome.
