Since AE has entered another cycle of continuous talking, he’s cracking us up with even greater frequency than usual.  And he always has an opinion, no matter the subject.

AE: I want to watch a movie!  Will you put in the Garfield movie for me?

AE: [five minutes later]  I’m done watching the movie now.

Me: For crying out loud, AE, why can’t you sit down and watch a movie like a normal kid?  What is your deal?

AE: That’s just the kind of kid I am.

*****

Miss T: [belches loudly]

Me: Such a lady.

AE: Ladies don’t burp, do they, Mommy?  I’ve never heard you burp.

Me: That’s right, AE.  I don’t burp.

AE: Miss T burps.  But she’s a baby lady.  They are impolite.

*****

AE: Yay yay yay!  Hummus!  I love hummus!

Me: Do you?

AE: Want to know how much I love hummus?  I love hummus more than everything.

Me: I see.  I’m glad you like it.

AE: I love hummus more than video games.

*****

AE: I know how to speak Japanese.

Me: You do?  That’s pretty impressive.  Where did you learn to speak Japanese?

AE: I didn’t learn.  I just know.

Me: Interesting.  So, what is the Japanese word for goodbye?

AE:

Me: Sayonara.

AE: Sayonara?  No, I’m pretty sure that’s French.

*****

AE: So, I know why 5 isn’t a lucky number.

Me: It isn’t a lucky number?  Why is that?

AE: Because it isn’t the answer to very many problems.

Me: Problems…?

AE: Division problems.

Me: Oh.  Are you learning about division at school?

AE: Yes, and addition and subtraction, but I already know how to do those.

Me: What about multiplication?

AE: We are learning how to do times.

Me: That is the same thing.  Are you learning your times tables?

AE: It is not exactly the same.  Times is harder than multiplication.  Like the World Series in baseball.

*****

AE: Did you know that I can read an entire book after I go to bed, without a nightlight?

Me: I did not know that.

AE: Well, I can only do it at Nonna’s house.

Me: [well aware that Nonna leaves a light on for him]  Really?  So you can see in the dark now?  That’s a nice skill to have.  How did that happen?

AE: [shrugging dismissively]  I guess I’ve been eating a lot of vitamin A.

Oh, he’s going to be so disappointed when he later finds out that ladies do indeed burp and *GASP* even fart. Although some will disappear to do it. Or maybe that disqualifies them from being called ladies…
