Well, you just crushed my dreams of wanting to become a box office cashier. 🙁 Thanks a lot! Just kidding. This was a FABULOUS post–cracked me up!!

PS I’m not a morning person either. My kids have adjusted and like the babysitter (the tv) very much. I should win “mom of the year”, I know.

All of the things listed above about being a box office cashier stand true for me too. I add to the list my biggest pet peeve: FANDANGO. When you buy tickets through fandango online a) It does not guarantee you good seating, so you STILL have to get to a show early (and it warns you of this when you buy the tickets) and b) when you inevitably show up late to the movie anyway b/c you believe these “guidelines” do not apply to you, do not ask me for a refund- I can’t give it to you. You bought the tickets from FANDANGO, not the theater, and believe it or not, it told you that too when you bought them online.

In addition, the cashiers do not control the ticket prices. They in fact get paid minimum wage and are not given that responsibility. Therefore, arguing with them about how outrageous the prices are is futile.

I only worked there for a month before the whole standing up for so long and my stupidity of wearing shoes with heels took its toll on my feet and I quit. And thank god I only ever really worked the concession stand. My favorite was

“No ice.”
“really, because it’s not cold when it comes out?”
“yeah, no ice.”
“Ok”
“Hey this coke is warm.”

You don’t even want to get me started on the things I’ve discovered/seen/encountered during my days in the theater business. That’s a whole blog in and of itself. Or possibly a best-selling novel.

My 2 kids (5 and 6 months) are also programmed to wake up at the ass crack of dawn. I never thought there would be a time in my life when sleeping till 7am is considered ‘sleeping in’…ugh .

I had a brief stint at Starplex dollar theater, and I’d like to add if you do smuggle in outside food and drink, don’t drop the whole thing on the floor, one time after a movie we found a carton of milk ~everywhere~, I don’t even understand why they brought that – did they have cups or chug it?
