Over the weekend, AE and I went to visit my parents at their new house near Austin. They built a house in a retirement community, and while it is all very nice and peaceful and such, I’m having a hard time thinking of my parents as (soon-to-be) retirees. They’re my parents, for crying out loud, they aren’t supposed to get old. We had a good time, but with both of my grandmas, my sister, my aunts, my uncle (and obviously my parents) all staying in a 3-bedroom house it was starting to feel a little crowded. And both of my grandmothers are practically deaf, so I would cringe every time they had a shouting match conversation after I put AE to bed – Mom and Dad don’t have a lot of furniture yet so everything is amplified and echoey.

While I was in the Austin area I had an unexpected bonus – I got to meet Amalah! She was in Austin for SXSW and one of her readers had an open house so people could drop by and say hello. Amy is very cute and nice, just as funny in person as she is on her blog. She is also very wee. I felt like a giant when I stood next to her. See?

Sweetney and Dad Gone Mad were there too. I don’t read them as often as Amalah but I do from time to time, so that was very cool. The whole thing made me feel all insecure and awkward, like I was back in high school. I hate the fact that I am so shy around people I don’t know. Or maybe I am just a dork.

Movie time! I watched Flushed Away when I got home on Sunday. I loved it! Hugh Jackman did a great job as the voice of Roddy (I adore him anyway, so that was a definite bonus right from the start). The animation was great – it was fun and colorful, and all the voices seemed to match their characters. My favorite part was the sewer slugs – I just could not stop laughing. I would like to show this movie to AE, but it is rated PG and I think that some of it might freak him out a little. He’s weird about stuff like that anyway (we tried to take him to Over the Hedge when it was in theaters but he mysteriously flipped out 10 minutes in). Maybe when he gets a little older, but for right now I think we’ll stick to Blue’s Clues and Bob the Builder.

So, I forgot to take a shower one day last week. I was in the middle of putting on my makeup when all of a sudden it seemed like I had forgotten something. But alas, it was too late. I had to go to work unshowered, a dirty dirty girl. And you might know, I had to go across campus to a meeting (with lots of presumably showered people) and couldn’t just hide out at my desk all day. Seriously, though. What is wrong with me? How can I forget to take a shower? What if I forget to shower multiple days in a row? Maybe I should put a reminder note on my bathroom mirror.

I think that’s all I have for now. Today is my last day of work before 3 days of Spring Break, so my brain function is at a minimal level. Thinking is becoming too much of a challenge. Bleeeeeeeh.
